Welcome

Introduction to blog/how to navigate:

I am a huge fan of Jane Austen and wanted an outlet that is where I can post all of the Jane Austen related stuff that I find and/or create. Because there is going to be a large verity of posts I am using labels to make it more navigable, you can chose to see just posts with a specific label by opening the side bar and selecting the one that you would like. These are the different labels:  Adaptation Review: my own reactions and opinions of different adaptations that I have seen, (I have watched more than I have reviewed.)  Fan Art, while my own artistic skills are severely lacking I love looking at fan art, I will always do my best to give credit to the artist.  Memes: just some Jane Austen memes that I saw floating around the internet that I thought were funny and wanted to share.   Quote: the title is relatively self explanatory. I will ether edit the words onto a picture I took, take a already existing picture from the internet, or just post a quote without ...

From Prada to Nada review:

With From Prada to Nada viewable on YouTube for a time with no greater a price than a few ads, I decided that it was about time that I watched it. Costumes: I loved all of the costumes. Since it is a modern adaptation there isn't much to say about accuracy, but I think that they did a good job using costumes to convey character. "Updating" to modern day: I think that they did a very good job of updating everything. the way that they translated class and economic divides was very well done in my opinion. As I am not Mexican I am afraid that I do not know how accurately they portrayed that culture. They handled the inheritance situation very well, it is after all a difficult thing to translate entailment into modern day. they managed to most keep the plot the same while still including some fun new bits. While they did make some changes to the whole Edward Lucy and Edward Elinor, (or in this adaptation Nora,) plots I can see that some changes had to be made because fortunat...

This is my first attempt at making my own meme.

Explanation, Janeite:

Janeite is a term first popularized by Rudyard Kipling in his short story titled The Janeites  and has since been adopted by huge Jane Austen fans as a fond term for themselves.

This is a picture I took myself and thought it would look nice with this quote.

I got my brother to enjoy it!

I managed to get my little brother to watch and enjoy Pride and Prejudice with me until he fell asleep! For clarification (and as he is not more than one and twenty there is no need to conceal his age,) he is three almost four. it took me awhile of telling him about all of the characters but he finally agreed. I went through explaining what was happening until he fell asleep. He kept on asking questions, mostly "Why?"  Me: "Mrs. Bennet wants Mr. Bingley to marry one of her daughters." Him: "Why?" Me: "...Because she wants them to be rich." Me: "Mr. Darcy said mean stuff about Elizabeth and wouldn't dance with her." Him: "Why?" Me: (long pause as I stumble to find a way to explain it to a 3 year old) "Because he didn't want to dance at all and saying that would get his friend to leave him alone, but see he really hurt Lizzy, you should always dance with people when you go to a party with dancing." Him: "w...

Emma 2020 Review:

I recently got to watch the newest Emma first with my Mom and then with the rest of my family. Set: the sets were beautiful and colorful. Music: the music was fitting and very nice. Dancing: six person and three person stars? are those even a thing? and if Mrs. Elton was opening the ball she would be at the head of all the dancers, not in the middle. Costumes: the costumes where as far as I can tell with my limited knowledge, historically correct. Mrs. Elton's hair was from a little bit later of a time, but I can see her trying to dress in the next big fashion. Character interpretation/casting: Emma Woodhouse: I think it was very well cast. I didn't like how much they exaggerated Emma's rudeness to Jane Fairfax though, in the book Emma does try to make conversation with her at first but retreats when she gets nothing but short reserved answers from Jane. Mr Knightly: When I first heard that they where going to make him "more human" rather than the always self ass...
